This timeline was created to focus on connections, influences, and context in relation to Vaughan Oliver, a British graphic designer who started work in the eighties primarily with the independent rock label 4AD. Keeping with the style of Oliver, photographs of the influences and events during his lifetime are in the background. Text was then overlaid to explain the details of each event. The packaging was also directed towards reinforcing the idea of CD packaging, CD booklet, and CD. |
This book is the culmination of all the systems created in the course Visual Systems. All projects are represented in this final book in a set, self-created grid. The various projects are based on systems within systems and how systems work In graphic design as well as the public sphere. Each section guides the reader through the process, the final, and review of the project as well as what changes would be made to specific projects. |

Alice in Wonderland 13 x 19 inches | 2008 The childhood story Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll was redesigned to become more typographically dynamic and interesting while still maintaining traditional ideas in typography with the typefaces used. The large format of the book also reflects the innovative, unusual, and exaggerated plot presented in the story line. The book balances ideas of tradition and modernity. |
CHANCE|CHANGE6.75 x 8.75 inches | 2009 Using chance and any form of design, a series of booklets were created using the chance based on our own interests. The booklets used short excerpts from traditional texts such as Pride and Prejudice and replaced the dialogue in the text with text from reality TV shows such as VH1s Rock of Love as well as photographs from my own collection of black and white photography. |
Fiore di Fashion various sizes | 2009 I created a hypothetical exhibit based on the juxtaposition of Alphonse Mucha's art nouveau pieces, Prada's Spring/Summer 2010 collection, and James Jean's work for Prada for the RISD museum. The Mathematica stamp collection was designed based on the most basic forms of mathematics. With the definition of mathematics in mind, the initial four stamps, a cancellation stamp, a “first day issue” commemorative package, and an instructional guide were to be designed to define, reflect, and celebrate mathematics. The stamp was to be considered as a unit as well as a part of an ongoing series. |

While walking through the Providence Train Station, photographs of various points in the station were taken that reflected a point of interest. The text within the book is thoughts and ideas from the specific landmarks in the train station. The hand bound book is a compilation of intriguing imagery and type that reflects the thoughts that map out this journey. |

Using the root three rectangle, a design was to be created that communicates the idea of “proportion”. Initially working in teams, we created a folded form to gain insight into the nature of the rectangle. After settling on a form, a grid was created so text could be applied to the form. Following the application of text, imagery was to applied to deepen the understanding of the text and form. The goal was to realize the content through interaction with the object. |
SENA is an upcoming contemporary women’s wear line based in New York City. An identity system was created and collateral was designed based on the logo. The SENA lookbook was created and distributed around the United States and internationally to show the looks to various vendors and clientele. The SENA website is up at www.senanyc.com. |
Using my own photography, I created an editorial layout and advertisement campaign for a mock fragrance and designer. The editorial focuses on the idea of the designer and her ability to maintain herself in times of intense and chaotic work periods. The editorial frontpiece also is a fold out. The look is cutting while retaining a sense of elegance. |

Using still images, a narrative of revenge is told. Please turn on volume for music! Collaboration with Ari Weinkle. |
For a design course, guest speaker Natalia Illyn assigned the task of creating an object that explores the role of graphic design in communication with other students. Our team came up with the idea of communication today as technology taking control over direct human interaction. In order to reconnect people together, we constructed the TALKbox, an interactive environment where people can talk to one another without the interruptions of technology. |
